My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goose is being fostered in the greater St Louis, MO area.

Meet Goose! Goose is a sweet, handsome senior gentleman estimated to be around 9 years old and weighing approximately 40 pounds, making him a great medium sized boy. While he may be in his golden years, Goose still has a playful spirit and enjoys tossing a frisbee, light games of keep away, and spending quality time with his people.

Goose was surrendered to rescue when he growled at the toddler.  Yes, it was only a growl, and no harm was done. Goose is a very smart boy who already knows his basic commands, including sit, lay down, shake, and come. He enjoys learning and would love a home that continues positive rerwards based training at his own pace.

Goose grew up on a farm with plenty of open land, so transitioning to leash life and public outings has been a learning experience. He is making wonderful progress with leash walking due to consistency and rewards.

Goose would be fantastic as an only dog or in a home with a calmer, submissive canine companion. He has lived with cats and has done well overall, though he is currently working on improving impulse control around the cat in his foster home.

Goose truly loves being part of the family and prefers to be included with his people whenever possible. Because of this, he is currently learning crate training and adjusting to having his own safe, quiet space to relax and decompress.  In his foster home, Goose is receiving lots of love, structure, and continued socialization in a calm, controlled environment. With guidance, Goose will flourish into a loyal, affectionate companion. He has so much love left to give and is ready to enjoy his best years with a family who will cherish him.

Goose is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
