*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.*
Brutus is a 12-year-old senior gentleman who has recently joined rescue and is settling into his foster home after a major life change. His beloved owner sadly passed away, which landed Brutus at the impound through no fault of his own. Despite everything he’s been through, Brutus remains a loving, resilient boy with so much affection left to give.
Though he’s a senior, Brutus still has some zest for life and a little pep in his step. He absolutely adores being around his people and soaking up attention. Whether it’s curling up beside you on the couch or gently plopping his head in your lap, Brutus is happiest when he’s close and snuggling.
Brutus enjoys sniffing around the yard and going for leisurely walks, taking in the world at his own pace. Brutus can be trusted to free roam the house. While he will go into a kennel if needed, he much prefers having the freedom to move between his favorite spots, usually the couch and a cozy dog bed.
He does well with other dogs, cats, and children. While he’s not one for rowdy play, Brutus enjoys their company and fits in easily with a loving household.
Incredibly affectionate and fully potty trained, Brutus is an easy, low-maintenance addition to any home. All he wants is a soft place to rest, plenty of pets, and a family to share his golden years with.
If you’re looking for a calm, loving senior who will happily keep you company and still surprise you with a little pep from time to time, Brutus may be your perfect match and is so ready to be someone’s best friend.
Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape.
Brutus is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
