After Katniss's owner sadly passed away, she was taken into protective custody at Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. Shelter staff worked hard to find placement for her with someone from her owner’s circle, but when that wasn’t possible, a kind foster family stepped in and opened their heart and home to Katniss. We are grateful that they agreed to continue fostering her after she became a Frosted Feline!
Katniss is a petite, youthful 12-year-old, weighing just 7 pounds. Her foster mom shares:
"Katniss may be 12 years, but age is just a number, and for senior cats, that couldn't be truer. They still have a lot of playful energy - just look at her video! Katniss enjoys chasing toys, and whoever adopts her will definitely enjoy playing with her and vice versa.
Katniss is more about quality time with her person above anything else, which is a purrfect bestie quality. She’s a certified cuddle bug and a professional lover of being petted. That said, Katniss prefers coming to you. She will curl up next to you or sleep on your chest when you are asleep. She doesn't like being picked up or being "forced" to cuddle. When Katniss sees a free hand not doing anything, she will go to it and rub your hand or meow until you pet her.
When I'm not home, Katniss lounges around my room. I do have a doggy flap in my room, but she has yet to explore the first floor by herself. She just comes out of the room when she knows I'm downstairs and wants me to come upstairs with her.
A day with Katniss is just chilling and watching tv or reading while she keeps me company. We also have pet sessions, naps, and play time with wands- her favorite!"
