My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet sweet Eugene 💞

While he might come off as a little timid with new people, give this boy a few pets and he will absolutely melt. Eugene was initally a little shaken up by his arrival at the shelter but has been gaining a little more confidence each and every day, and has blossomed into the most charming little guy. At only 10 months old, he's still in his awkward teenage stage and can't decide if he wants to play like a crazy kitten or act like a distinguished young cat. He loves to beg for attention by rolling around on his back and showing you his fluffy orange belly, and sometimes gets so excited that he'll roll right off of his kuranda bed 😂 A total lovable dork, Eugene is ready to start his new life and find his forever family. While we haven't had him spend a lot of time one on one with other kitties, he seems pretty interested in meeting other cats and would likely do well with a feline friend. If you'd like to add a little orange goofball to your home, please submit an application to come and meet him!

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
