My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Phoebe. I’m a gentle, sensitive girl who just needs a little time to feel safe. New places and new people can be a bit overwhelming for me at first, so I might hang back and observe. But the staff at Roswell have discovered that if you sit with me for a few quiet, calm moments, I get brave enough to come out for pets and attention — and I really do enjoy them.

I like affection, just on my terms and at my pace. I’m more of the thoughtful, observant type. One of my favorite things to do is climb up to a higher spot and survey the land around me like a tiny queen watching over her kingdom. It makes me feel safe and confident. I’ve lived with other animals before. I do very well with my friend Olive, but I’ve struggled with some other cats in the past, so slow, careful introductions will be important. I’m litterbox trained and have lovely house manners.

If you have a calm home and a patient heart, I promise I’m worth the wait. Once I trust you, I’ll be your quiet, loyal little companion.

Additional adoption info

At the Atlanta Humane Society, we process adoptions two different ways depending on whether an animal is physically housed at our Atlanta or Roswell location or in a foster home. The adoption process is listed in each animal’s biography so that you’ll know if you need to fill out a pre-adoption application form or visit them at our shelter to adopt. You can learn more about our adoption processes on our adoption process page.

More about this shelter

At the Atlanta Humane Society, we take special care to make sure the animals we house are a good fit for the homes they go to. We have a variety of friendly, healthy, tail-wagging furry friends just brimming with love to give. They’ve been seen by a vet and a behavior team, are up-to-date on vaccines, and go home with starter kit to help you get started off on the right paw. Even if they can’t say it out loud, when you find the right animal, you’ll feel the gratitude and affection. Your new best friend is waiting for you!
