I’m a 5-month-old tortoiseshell girl with a little spice and a whole lot of heart. When I was tiny, I was known as the feistiest kitten of the litter — but now that I’m a “big girl,” I’ve found my balance. I enjoy my playtime with my siblings, my solo adventures, and my quiet moments just hanging nearby and observing everything that’s going on.
My story started when my mom brought my siblings and me to a front patio when we were about three weeks old. Once we discovered how kind people were (and how cozy indoors can be), we started sneaking inside whenever the door opened. The door stayed open in case we wanted to leave… but we never did. We decided this was home.
I love to snuggle with my siblings and my humans, but I’m also perfectly happy being close without being right on top of you. My favorite activities include mastering ball-on-track toys, showing off my superior scratching-post climbing skills, and getting your attention with my sweet little trilling sounds. I’m soft, gentle, and quietly affectionate in my own special way.
I get along well with the older cats in my foster home and would happily play with them if they were interested. I’d love a home with another friendly cat — maybe even one of my siblings — where I can keep growing, exploring, and being my wonderful tortie self.
8-Mile is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
