My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🌟 Meet Astra & Merlin - A Bonded Pair of Gentle Hearts

Ages: 12 years
Personalities: Sweet • Affectionate • Devoted
Special Talent: Loving you endlessly

Astra is the definition of sweet. This gentle 12‑year‑old girl has a soft heart and an even softer temperament. She wants nothing more than your love, calm companionship, and as many pets as you're willing to give. She leans into affection, purrs with gratitude, and blossoms with every bit of kindness shown to her.

Astra is deeply bonded to her brother, Merlin, and they are looking for a home where they can stay together. Merlin is her steady comfort, and she is his warm, nurturing presence. They move through life as a team-relaxed, affectionate, and endlessly appreciative of human attention.

Together, Astra and Merlin are the perfect pair for someone wanting loving, low‑key companions. They'd thrive in a peaceful home where they can nap in sunny spots, enjoy quiet moments, and be cherished for the gentle souls they are.
If you're searching for a bonded duo who will fill your home with sweetness, warmth, and soft purrs, Astra and Merlin are ready to be your loyal, loving partners.

Come meet them-your new best friends might be waiting. 💛🐾

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*General Adoption Information: If you are interested in adopting an animal from our shelter, you will need to come to Prince Rupert to visit the animal and process the adoption here. Due to our remote location we cannot arrange for animals to be transferred to a shelter closer to you by request.

Please note that in many BC SPCA shelters potential adopters are required to bring in copies of their strata council by-laws or rental agreements in order to be approved for adopting. Please contact us at the shelter for any adoption requirements before visiting us to adopt so that you are correctly prepared to take your new family member home.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
