My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peter: Professional Cuddlebug, Part-Time Goofball, Full-Time Good Boy
Peter is a 3-year-old pit mix with a permanent smile, a constantly wagging tail, and a very serious commitment to cuddling. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who flops onto his back like an overturned turtle just to be closer to you, congratulations, you’ve found him.
Peter adores adults and lives for human companionship. He’s affectionate, gentle, and completely unbothered if you take food or toys right out of his mouth. He already knows how to sit on cue, loves fetch, tug-of-war, and flirt pole sessions, and after burning off his zoomies, he’s happy to settle in for quality couch time.
Important fine print, delivered lovingly: Peter wants to be your one and only dog at home. He does well in neutral environments like dog parks and boarding facilities, but in a home setting he prefers to be the sole recipient of attention. Think “only child energy,” not “mean,” just selective about roommates.
House training is about 70% complete. Peter doesn’t give a lot of bathroom warnings yet, so he needs a proactive human, but he tries hard to hold it, doesn’t mark, and is not destructive indoors. Furniture is safe. Pillows are safe. Your lever-style door handles, however, should be watched closely. Peter is very smart and has figured out how doors work.
On the practical side:
• Neutered male
• Vaccines up to date
• Microchipped
• Rides well in the car
• Leash skills improving nicely
• Has stayed at Pet Paradise with a good report card
• High energy but responsive and eager to please
Peter would thrive in a home where he can be the center of someone’s world, get regular exercise, and receive the affection he gives out so freely.
If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, people-loving companion who will happily share your couch, your heart, and possibly your personal space, Peter is ready to meet you.

Their adoption process

1.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

All of our pets are in foster homes, so they would visit our website or social media to find a pet

2.

Submit Application

We have an adoption application online that has to be submitted before any action is taken.

3.

Interview

I, or a team member, interview the potential adopter via phone call and then the foster interviews them as well.

4.

Approve Application

The adopter must be vetted and approved prior to any further steps.

5.

Meet the Pet

If the adopter is local, they would schedule a meet and greet with the foster at this time. If they are out of state, they would video chat.

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

7.

Pay Fee

Additional adoption info

The final step is to take the pet home either in person if local or if out of state, the pet goes on transport to their new home. If they go on transport, they receive a health certificate prior.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

They are all foster-based so meet and greets will be set up with the fosters. At this time we do not do adoption events but that may change in the future.

More about this rescue

Ruff Road Revival is a foster-based animal rescue based in DFW, TX. We prioritize saving animals from euthanasia at local shelters and getting strays off of the streets and into homes. We adopt both locally and out of state. I started the rescue because there is a crisis especially here in Texas with the overpopulation of dogs and cats as well as euthanasia for space. I have always loved animals and have volunteered with many different species but running my own rescue has always been something I felt called to do. I wanted to do my part to make a difference and help these animals.
