Meet the Pet
This helps Poodle and Pooch Rescue with pet care costs.
Hi, I’m Wendell! I’m a two-year-old Poodle blend boy who loves nothing more than to sit outside with my favorite human with the sun on our faces. I weigh an adorable 17 pounds and I’m looking for a family where love is in the air!
Favorite Things: Wendell loves toys – the more the better! He also loves playtime with other small dogs, as well as treats, soaking up the sun, and being close to his favorite human. He prefers to have someone home more often than not and will happily sit by your side in the yard on a sunny day or on the sofa while you read your favorite book.
Training & Manners: Wendell is working on house training and has learned to cue his humans when he needs to go out. He’s a smart little guy, catching on quickly to how to navigate stairs and schedules and how to sit nicely in his car seat. His new family will need to continue his training on house manners and leash walking but he’s off to a great start, taking treats gently from your hand and settling himself when his family settles down. He sleeps soundly in the people bed at night.
Health & Care: Wendell is neutered, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. He’ll just need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. This handsome guy will need regular brushing and professional grooming every 6 -8 weeks to look and feel his best.
Other Animals: Wendell has experience with small dogs, especially the playful kind. He is learning how to take cues from his foster fur-siblings, like accepting when they don’t feel like playing and ecstatic when they do. He has not yet been tested with cats, but his foster mom thinks he would be fine with them.
Children: Wendell will do best with older children (teens) who are gentle and dog-savvy. He may react when startled, so a home with no small children is best.
Ideal Home: Wendell needs a single-family home as he can be quite the singer when left home alone. Solo performances notwithstanding, he can be left alone in the home for a few hours without issues.
Overall: If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back companion who can also double as your shadow and will love you with all his heart, Wendell might be the one for you. If you think he might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $575.
