My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Love love love Millie May ! Oh my goodness are we all a little obsessed over her. She is quite literally the definition of gentle and that's not even an exaggeration. Everything about her is gentle. From the way she interacts with kids and other dogs, the way she walks on a leash, taking treats, the way she asks for affection, even the way her paws touch the ground as she walks....it's all gentle!

Watch her video and fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/_bK8hDJfN8k?si=EPQU3lTrWblInuhP

Millie May is believed to be a Lab/Great Dane mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 69 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Based off looks alone and those long legs of her, there’s a good chance Great Dane is mixed in there somewhere. Regardless of what her genetic makeup is, she’s the seething thing ever and she’s perfect.

Millie is dog friendly and has done great meeting all of the dogs we introduce her too. She greets new dogs with a quick sniff the and then goes off and does her own thing, find a spot to lay in the grass and bask in the sun, or she’s off getting affection by the people in the yard. She has met a handful of dogs, all with different personalities and has even been with some wild younger playful dogs and was very tolerant of their youthfulness. She is not a super playful lady with other dogs, she gives off more of the laid back chill hangout type of vibes. We have seen her play every now and then. It's very out of the blue and short LOL essentially she just does these cute little paw-hoping like gestures, a little romp, and that's about it. For the most part, she's hanging out in the yard and enjoying the fresh air. She doesn't mind if dogs are playing around her having a good time, she is just the type that likes to hangout and watch.

In a home, Millie would be best placed with a dog that has the same temp as her. A dog that enjoys the company of other dogs and won't be looking for a 24/7 playmate. She would also do great as your one and only too if you don't have other dogs. She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable or to fulfill her energy needs. She is a loving gal all on her own and has a perfectly balanced energy.

Her dream home can look like so many different things because of how adaptable she is. Work from home and want a companion? Millie will be there all day for emotional support. Have a family with kids and wanting a companion for your tweens or teens? Sign Natasha up, she has shown nothing but gentleness. We do believe a family with older kids would be more her style. Retried and looking for a mellow easy going gal to take with you on walks around the neighborhood? Millie is already at the door patiently waiting for you.

She has the potential to thrive in an apartment because of her lower energy needs and also she's a quiet lady. A leisurely walk around the park is totally fine for this gal. We do believe that she would be the HAPPIEST in a home with a backyard because of her love of the sun and rolling around in the grass. She really enjoys sunbathing, smelling all the smells, and enjoying the fresh air. At the end of the day, all Millie needs is some chin scratches, treats, and a nice cozy couch for her to cuddle up on.

We are willing to test Millie May with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
