My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adaline is a cautious, but active dog. She is a typical velcro GSP who wants to be where the people are at in the house. She does great in the car and loves to investigate around the house. She is learning how to be in a house. Some things like dishwashers and hair dryers are very surprising, but she is kennel trained and potty trained. When in our house, she has paced and done laps around our island. The use of a leash has helped her be close to us and settle down for a snuggly nap. When new people come over, Adaline is very curious and excited to meet them. She didn't jump on them or get aggressive. She barks a little when she hears noise outside the home, but is not overly vocal. She doesn't want to go outside alone but will go outside with a human to go to the bathroom. She will then immediately want to come back inside. She has not shown a huge interest in toys, but loves a good food puzzle or licky mat.

Background:
Adaline was rescued from Lake Manawa by the Council Bluffs Fire Department. She is estimated to be 4.5 years old but not much is known of her life before that.

Adaline doesn’t respond to commands, but will come to a whistle. She is learning her name and is responding to "no" when told to stop counter surfing.

Current Foster Home:
Adaline is being fostered in Lincoln, Nebraska. She joined GPPR January 26th. She has done great with our kids (17, 15, and 8) as well as our 3 year old GSP. She has shown no signs of aggression or resource guarding. She is kennel trained with occasional whining after being put in her kennel, but quickly calms down. She is not leash trained and pulls while on a walk. Adaline is able to jump over a baby gate and has jumped onto our counters to grab herself a snack.

Adopting from Great Plains Pointer Rescue is a thoughtful process. Our goal is not to place dogs as quickly as possible, but to place them well.

More about this rescue

German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue in Nebraska and Iowa
Great Plains Pointer Rescue (GPPR) is a volunteer run, foster based nonprofit dedicated to German Shorthaired Pointers and GSP mixes. Our dogs live in real homes, not kennels, which allows us to understand their personalities, needs, and challenges before placing them.
