Roux is a 7 year 8-month-old male Australian Shepherd mix with a brown and white fluffy coat and a gentle, soulful personality. He weighs 73 pounds and has clearly been a well-loved indoor dog. After his beloved owner passed away, Roux was staying at a veterinary clinic, patiently waiting for a new family to call his own.
Roux truly enjoys the comforts of home but also loves going outside to feel the sunshine, run a bit, and sniff the grass. Rainy weather is strictly business only, then it is right back inside. He adores people and attention, happily following his humans around and gently pawing for more pets when he feels the moment is right. Playing with his ball, rolling in the grass, and simply being near his people are some of his favorite activities. He also is great around other dogs and children.
He is polite and well mannered, does not bark excessively, and has even taken on the role of friendly receptionist while he was at the vet clinic. Roux greeted visitors calmly and soaked up compliments. Roux is generally indifferent to cats, and if a cat swats at him, he prefers to retreat and avoid conflict. He listens well, though he can occasionally get lost in his own little world while sniffing. He also has a mild fondness for sneaking paper towels from the trash, a quirky habit that only adds to his charm.
Roux is already top notch with his house, crate and leash training. He is ready to pack his bags and move into his forever home. Although Roux is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment.
Roux enjoys healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables, especially when they are frozen in water. He is a truly sweet, loyal boy who deserves a loving home where he can be cherished again. Roux is ready to give his whole heart to someone who will love him as much as his previous owner did.
* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability.
