My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carmen is a petite and gorgeous tortoise shell one-year-old with lots of love to give. She loves cuddles, being held, pet on her head, and curling up in your lap for a snooze. No matter where she’s napping, though, don’t be fooled and think she’s conked out, cause she's keeping an eye on you from wherever she is, deciding when it’s time to trot over for more attention. Carmen loves rubbing her face on your shoes, gulping down treats, and the only thing she dislikes is when you try to disguise meds in her Churu — she is way too smart for that! She’s also a playful gal and will happily chase after a catnip mouse, laser pointer, or feather toy. Game on!

Carmen was rescued from a Brooklyn backyard, where it was unclear at first if she was feral or friendly, but she showed her friendly vibes pretty quickly and that she wanted the VIP life inside. Unfortunately, when she was snap tested, she tested positive for FeLV, so she will need a loving indoor home where she’s your one and only feline (she can live with a dog, no problem), lives in a home with other FeLV+ cats, or where FeLV- cats are vaccinated.

Carmen will by shy at first, but will show her loving self in no time. She will thrive in a home with people who want a companion cat and want to give her plenty of daily attention. She is incredibly loving, gentle, and emotionally connected to humans, and she has so much affection to give. She’s looking for her person, someone she can adore, follow around, and love with her whole tiny heart.

Additional adoption info

Our cats are almost all in foster homes. Upon approval of your application (including reference check), we will connect you with the foster parent(s) so that you can meet the kitty you're interested in. If it's a good fit, we'll do a home check for safety issues, and then process the paperwork so that you can officially adopt your new family member!

More about this rescue

We are a network of rescuers in Central Brooklyn (primarily in Bed Stuy, Ocean Hill, and Crown Heights) who help each other out. We do both TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) as well as the rescue and adoption of friendly cats and kittens that we find on the streets. We don't have a physical facility, so our cats are usually in foster homes, or staying with us in our own homes. Our goal is to find loving, permanent homes for all the cats we take off the street, and to make better lives for the ones we return there.
