History and A Note from the Foster: Our sweet little Granite arrived to rescue with his mom and littermates. He is the "litte engine that could!". He was much, much smaller than his siblings and also could not get around normally- wobbling and tripping over his legs that did not seem to work quite right. We knew there was an unknown neuro concern with him and he was placed in a special-needs foster home right away. With the help of our veterinary team and neurologist, we were able to confirm that he does have a spinal deformity. We were hoping that there would be a "fix" for him, but there is not. Instead, he has the potential to live a life (of unknown length- depending on the quality of life he has as he grows older) with laser treatments, water therapy, a wheel chair, and supportive care. This little guy is worth every ounce of effort thrown his way! He is just a little tyke but will grow, of course. He needs a family that is committed to all knowns and unknowns. His long-term supportive care (laser treatments, therapy, etc...) may be costly but crucial. As long as he is comfortable and happy- he could live many years. However, having the mind and heart to know that his quality of life supersedes time of life is an important task.
Is there a family out there that can give him their very best? We hope to hear from you! Granite deserves the world, and more!
