Kelsey is ready to go to her forever home! Apply today to take home your very own teddy bear. Yes, believe it or not, the squishable fuzzy bear in the photo is ACTUALLY a dog under all that fluff!!... and we couldn't love her anymore!
After narrowly escaping euthanasia, this beautiful Chow girl is finally safe and decompressing in a loving foster home — and she's showing just how special she is. Within her first hour, Kelsey was accepting kisses, full-body pets (yes, even belly rubs!), and choosing to lay right next to her person on her own.
- Exceptionally sweet and gentle
- Loves human attention and closeness
- Calm, affectionate, and emotionally tuned-in
As Kelsey continues to decompress, she's thriving most when things are calm and her space is respected. She may do best solo in a home that allows for thoughtful, low-pressure introductions and a peaceful routine so she can continue blossoming at her own pace. If you're Chow-savvy and looking for a deeply loving companion, Kelsey may be your girl.
**Kelsey is being fostered in Ft. Worth, Texas. Paid transport can be arranged. Transport costs range from $200-400.**
If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application @ https://form.jotform.us/41173109602142. Once approved, home visit and reference checks are also required. If you have further questions outside of this listing, please email chowmail.hccc@gmail.com.

Houston Chow Chow Connection is a collaborative of dog lovers and rescuers that dedicate their time, efforts and talents toward helping rescue Chow Chows in need. We are an entirely volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) organization with no administrative costs.
Our rescue traces its origin back several years to the work of Dianne Watson. Dianne dedicated much of her young life to saving homeless Chows in North and West Texas. In her memory, Houston Chow Chow Connection continues her passion of uniting Chow Chows with perfect forever families.
HCCC began rescuing in 2013 and re-homed over 400 dogs since inception, including over 125 in 2017! Our dogs found homes on the East and West coasts of the U.S. and have traveled north and south! As we continue to rescue and re-home more and more Chows, our costs grow. As you may know, rescuing animals takes money. Not only is there the typical care and upkeep (including food and general veterinary care), some of our rescues need specialized treatments.
At HCCC we don’t pick and choose the dogs we rescue – they pick us. While the majority of our rescues are healthy, we never turn our backs on the homeless, Chows with physical issues, or disabilities. Some of our incoming babies have suffered long-term and extensive neglect. New HCCC dogs may require spay/neuter, shaving due to extensive matting, entropion and/or hip replacement surgeries, treatment of skin problems and a variety of other issues.
