My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Tuttles is a handsome and sweet gentle giant. Mr. Tuttles came to QCC after a life on the streets where he was not faring well. The concerned citizen who was feeding him let QCC know he needed help. Clearly the object of many beatings by other street cats, he arrived with a number of defensive injuries and with old scars all over his body. His injuries have healed well and despite all of the reasons Mr. Tuttles might have to be mistrusting he simply loves people. Mr. Tuttles is adores attention. He is a big talker and will chat at you as you move around and run over for pets and attention when you enter a room he’s in. After a few head scratches he flops down in front of you and begs for more. If you’re on furniture, he jumps up to greet and while not necessarily one to be on a lap *yet*, he loves to cuddle up to a leg, arm, or side.

Due to his prior street cat life, Mr. Tuttles can be easily overwhelmed or overstimulated, which occasionally leads to a swat though not often. Because of this he would be best in a home without young children and with people who know to approach slowly, especially while first building a relationship. A gentle, slow, and predictable approach is key with Mr. Tuttles, and you will be handsomely rewarded in cuddling, purring, and loving headbutts if you comply.

Mr. Tuttles is FIV+ and does not get along with other cats or dogs so he would do best as an only pet. Plus then he doesn’t have to share the pets, love, and attention, which he’d really prefer! While FIV+ status is sometimes talked about as a boogeyman in cat communities, cats can and do live long and healthy lives with FIV. It primarily weakens the immune system so a supplement like l-lysine or imuquin is useful along with an indoor life to remain disease free. If you are ready for a chatty gentle giant with a huge heart full of love to match his frame, Mr. Tuttles may be the perfect cat for you!
