My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a quiet, loyal friend to share your days with? Meet Stanley, an 8-year-old gentleman who’s ready to be someone’s faithful sidekick for the best years ahead.

Stanley is the perfect companion for a calm, easygoing lifestyle. He adores routine, enjoys the simple things in life, and has a special soft spot for older adults — especially retired folks who appreciate good company and a steady pace.

He’s happiest spending time right by your side: soaking up the sunshine on the porch, snoozing through a cozy afternoon, or curling up with you and a crocheted blanket during a quiet evening at home. Stanley takes his routines seriously and will politely remind you when it’s past bedtime — because even a distinguished gentleman knows the value of a good night’s rest.

Stanley is great with other dogs and children, though he prefers a cat-free household. He’s gentle, affectionate, and loves to be included in whatever you’re doing — whether it’s gardening, watching TV, or enjoying your morning coffee.

Recently diagnosed with a mild heart murmur, Stanley is still in good spirits and has many happy, loving years ahead. His needs are simple: a calm home, a soft blanket, and someone who enjoys life’s slower moments as much as he does.

If you’re looking for a steady, loving companion to share your golden years, Stanley would love to meet you. He’ll remind you when it’s bedtime, keep you company through every season, and fill your home with warmth and quiet joy.

Additional adoption info

An adoption application must be completed prior to coordinating a private meet and greet with the dog's foster parent. An adoption contract is signed at the time of adoption. Veterinarian reference and a home check is also required. Since we do home checks for all potential adopters, we prefer to adopt only within the central Ohio area. All dogs have an adoption fee of $300.00 which covers their vaccinations (including rabies, heartworm testing and heartworm prevention) while in our care, worming, microchipping and spay or neutering prior to adoption. Please email us at contactus@powellpaws.org if you would like to meet one of our great, adoptable dogs.

More about this rescue

PAWS (Powell Animal Welfare Society) is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer, foster-based dog rescue serving the Columbus, Ohio area. Our volunteer rescue, provides veterinary care and finds loving homes for stray, neglected, and/or abused dogs from overpopulated shelters in Ohio and neighboring states.

PAWS strives to eliminate the needless euthanasia of homeless animals, one dog, one adopter at a time. We are in need of more loving foster homes for homeless dogs. PAWS can only save a dog if we have a foster home to care for it since we have NO kennel. Each foster home provides shelter and care, while PAWS provides food, veterinary care (including spay/neuter) and all necessary supplies such as crates, bowls, leashes, collars, etc.
