My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oscar

1 year, neutered male, 10 lb

Chihuahua mix

Between those big ears is a cautious mind. Little Oscar is nervous at new situations and experiences but he isn’t timid he is just cautious. Once he trusts, he loves people and snuggling all day.

LIKES: Oscar loves playing with stuffed animals and playing with other small dogs, and snuggling on the couch

DISLIKES: Oscar can be intimidated by big dogs. He is also nervous about getting picked up but loves to be held.

CRATE TRAINING: He settled really well in a pet play pen

POTTY TRAINED: Oscar is doing great in his foster home

OTHER/MISC: Oscar is fostered with other dogs and cats, and he remains nervous around one of the large breed dogs. He likes cats and small dogs. He doesn't seem to enjoy walking on leash, but he is getting some training with his foster and may in time have more appreciation for exploring the wider world. He is a really sweet snuggly guy, but timid at new experiences Because of this, Oscar would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another small dog to play with and help show him the ropes.

To further inquire about OSCAR, submit an application.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how OSCAR will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.

We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for OSCAR as well as his future family.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an online application, submitted via our website. We do not guarantee a response, but will reach out if we think that it's a good fit and then arrange for a meet and greet. We do not hold dogs for more than 48 hours for a meet and greet, and if the dog is scheduled to go to an adoption event it will not be held back. We do not transport dogs out of area. We do same-day adoptions at our meet and greet appointments and adoption events. We offer a one-week trial period to our adopters to make sure that things work out, and we encourage adopters to be familiar with the 3-3-3 rule for dogs. We also highly encourage puppy classes for our puppies, as training is very important in ensuring that dogs stay in their forever homes.
