She effortlessly matches stripes and spots with her perfect velvety tabby coat and is stylish to a fault in her little white ballerina slippers. She will demand snuggles once she feels safe and is very partial to head rubs, and she will probably prefer to sleep in bed with you at night. Panettone has been enjoying this cold winter watching (and occasionally pouncing at) the birds from the window, and is becoming a master of napping in all the cozy spots. She's a fairly quiet girl, but offers very sweet meows upon mealtime, and will open up to reveal her playful side after a short settling-in period. She does tend to be cautious with new things, (expected: vacuum cleaner; unexpected: jingle ball toy) but is very brave and even-tempered.

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.
Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
