My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾✨ Meet Haneui — A Calm, Gentle, and Affectionate Little Lady ✨🐾
📍 Location: Korea 🇰🇷 (able to fly once adopted ✈️)

🐶 Name: Haneui
🎂 Age: 5 years (estimated, born 2021)
♀️ Gender: Female (spayed)
⚖️ Weight: 7 kg (approx. 15 lb)
🐕 Breed: Long-haired Chihuahua × Dachshund mix (estimated)
🎨 Color: Black & White

---

🧡 Personality & Social Skills
Haneui is a very gentle, people-loving dog with a soft and affectionate nature.
She enjoys human companionship and often approaches first to ask for pets.

👩 With women: Excellent — friendly and trusting
👨 With men: Very good — no fear; at a short-term foster home, she bonded most closely with the dad
👶 With kids: Excellent — does well with kindergarten- and elementary-age children; allows handling and walks calmly even when a child holds the leash

🐶 With dogs:
On walks, she may feel nervous around unfamiliar dogs and prefer to turn back if they approach.
However, with dogs she lives with, she adjusts over time and coexists peacefully.

🐱 With cats:
No direct experience yet. She may be slightly cautious at first.

---

🏠 Energy Level & Lifestyle
Haneui has a low energy level and enjoys a calm, relaxed routine.
She’s well suited for apartment living and quieter households.

---

🚽 Habits & Training
✔ Fully house-trained
✔ Can potty both indoors and outdoors
✔ If taken outside regularly, she prefers outdoor potty and will wait patiently
✔ Crate-trained and comfortable in a crate

---

🖐 Handling & Touch
Haneui loves being touched and cuddled.
She often comes over on her own asking to be petted and enjoys close contact with her people.

---

🔊 Barking Tendencies
She may bark briefly when:

Other animals nearby bark

The doorbell rings

A stranger first enters the home

Once she adjusts, she stops barking and often approaches visitors calmly.
Aside from these situations, she is generally very quiet.

---

🍽 Food & Health Notes

Medical history: Heartworm (treated), past pancreatitis

Diet: Must eat a pancreatitis-friendly prescription diet

Treats: Limited — snack restriction required

Appetite: Strong food motivation
When other animals are present, she may eat quickly or guard food
→ Separated feeding is recommended
She may pick up dropped human food, so supervision is needed

---

🐕 Leash Walking & Travel
✔ Walks very well with a collar and leash
✔ Rides well in cars (may pant slightly but remains calm)

---

🚪 Escape Tendencies
Low overall risk, but in frightening situations, caution is advised and secure handling is recommended.

---

🧸 Destructive Behavior
Rare when alone.
Occasionally mimics other dogs’ behavior (e.g., tearing pee pads or tissues), but nothing severe.

---

🏡 Home Environment
✔ Apartment-friendly
✔ Yard not required
✔ Can live with other dogs (with proper adjustment time)

---

🌈 Rescue Story
Haneui was found wandering alone in a rural village and taken to Iksan City Animal Shelter, where euthanasia is practiced.
Thanks to rescue intervention, she was saved and given a second chance at life.
Now, this sweet and quiet girl is patiently waiting for a forever family to call her own.

---

💛 Haneui is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy gentle affection, calm companionship, and a safe routine.
If you’re searching for a small, affectionate, low-energy dog with a kind heart, Haneui may be the perfect match. 🐾

Additional adoption info

At Welcome Paws Rescue, our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible match between our dogs and their future families. After submitting the application form on our website, our team will review your information to determine if your home and lifestyle align with the needs of the dog you're interested in. If your application is a good fit, we will contact you to schedule a phone or video interview. This is followed by a reference check and, in many cases, a virtual or in-person home visit. Once approved, we’ll work with you to finalize the adoption and arrange transportation or pick-up. Our goal is to support both our dogs and adopters throughout the entire process to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

More about this rescue

Welcome Paws Korean Dog Rescue is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, run entirely by a passionate team of volunteers who are deeply committed to the welfare and well-being of animals. Our mission is to rescue dogs in need and give them a second chance at life.

We believe every animal—regardless of age, size, or breed—deserves to experience love, safety, and the comfort of a forever home. Through our rescue efforts, we work to create brighter futures for these deserving animals, ensuring they have the opportunity to live happy, healthy lives.

Our dedication goes beyond rescue. We work tirelessly to save stray, neglected, abused, and at-risk shelter animals. Each dog in our care lives in a loving foster home and receives full medical attention before being matched with a permanent family.

We also strive to raise awareness about the importance of compassion and responsible pet ownership. By providing adopters with quality education and support, we ensure each adoption is successful and lasting. We don’t measure success in numbers—but in the positive, life-changing impact we make for both animals and the families who welcome them home.
