Copper is a sweet, playful young Basset mix pup, just around a year old, with a moderate activity level and a gentle heart. He can be shy when first meeting new people and likes to take his time getting to know them. Once he feels comfortable, he becomes very affectionate and loves being close to his people. He has especially bonded with the children in his foster home and enjoys being part of family life.
Copper loves to play and has a blast with stuffy toys, balls, and tug-of-war. He enjoys running around a fenced yard, zooming with excitement, and playing with other dogs, making him a great candidate for a home with a furry sibling. He knows how to sit and will happily offer his paw when you say “paw.” He also loves going bye-bye and would enjoy long walks with his future family.
Copper is partially housetrained and has made great progress, doing very well with reminders and staying accident-free overnight. He is crate trained, though he may need a little encouragement to go in, and he settles once inside. Copper would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely play and soak up the outdoors.
He is a loving, playful boy who is ready to find his forever home and continue blossoming with a patient, caring family. Contact BROOD today to meet Copper! His adoption fee is $250.00.
**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 01/31/2026
