My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Roxie 💛

Roxie is a loyal, playful girl who bonds deeply with her people. Once you’re in her circle, you’re in — she’ll be at your side, ready for cuddles, toys, and quality couch time.

She starts her mornings making sure you know breakfast is very important (and dinner is equally urgent 😉). During the day, she relaxes comfortably in the home, and in the evenings she’s happy to play, snuggle, and soak up attention. Roxie is house trained, crate trained, sleeps in bed at night, knows “sit,” “lay down,” and “shake,” and enjoys baths — she even loves water enough to sneak drinks from the tub faucet!

Roxie does well with other dogs and has learned to peacefully coexist with cats. She enjoys walks (and is continuing to work on her leash manners), loves toys, and is very food-motivated.

New people, however, are hard for her. Roxie is a shy girl! She needs a patient, adult-only home (or one with older teens) that understands she may take time to trust.

Roxie also has some ongoing medical needs, including hip dysplasia and skin/knee sensitivities, which are managed with joint supplements, a gentle diet, and routine care.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will love you fiercely, make you laugh, and grow more confident with kindness and consistency, Roxie could be your girl. 🖤

Additional adoption info

Our website, IndyHumane.org, is updated daily with pets who are available for adoption. Third-party sites, such as Adopt-a-Pet and others, are not accurate or reliable sources of information about our shelter pets. Please visit IndyHumane.org for more information and to check the status of a particular pet.
Each adoptable cat and dog has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Our adoption counselors are happy to share their behavioral and medical background with you during the application process!
We are a non-profit shelter with limited staff. Answers to common questions can be found at IndyHumane.org!

Go meet their pets

You can find up-to-date information on all of our available pets by visiting IndyHumane.org/Cats or IndyHumane.org/Dogs. Adopt-a-Pet is a third party site and not a source of reliable, updated information.

Our website is updated throughout each day, so if you see a pet on there that you are interested in, as long as their photo is on the website it means they are still available. Each profile will have a link for their online application. Please fill out an application for the pet you'd like to meet and a member of our team will contact you within 24-48 hours for more info and to schedule an intro. Thanks!
