Carter is an adult standard poodle with a moderate energy level and a gentle, thoughtful nature. He does well with other dogs and enjoys being around people, though he prefers calm, respectful interactions. Carter is shy and a bit nervous at first and requires slow, patient introductions to feel comfortable. Once he settles in, his sweet personality really shines.
Carter knows several commands including sit, lay down, give paw, and stay, showing he enjoys learning and working with his people. He does not like being hovered over and appreciates having his space respected, which helps him build trust and confidence. With a patient adopter who understands his need for gentle handling and reassurance, Carter has the potential to blossom into a devoted and loving companion.

Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-breed, animal rescue organization incorporated in August 2015. We are a primarily volunteer-driven group with years of experience with animals and rescue. Our mission is to rescue, foster, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals.
We rescue animals at risk of euthanasia in shelters, as well as those surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We are committed to helping the most needy, as well as the readily adoptable.
