My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Mousey came to us in the summer of 2025. She was born outside on a farm, to a stray cat that had moved in unexpectedly; but her mom wouldn`t take care of her. The farm owners called us in a panic for help - her eyes and nose were matted shut with infection, and she still needed to nurse. Mousey was fostered by one of our amazing bottle feeders, and recovered from her respiratory and eye infections. She seemed to be out of the woods!

But just when things seem to be going her way, Mousey developed seizures. Small ones at first, almost not noticeable at all. But they progressed, until Mousey was having such severe seizures she spent her days seeming dazed. We tested her for everything, and treated her for what we could think of - but nothing was working, and Mousey was declining. That was when, just in the nick of time, our veterinarian thought: `could it be a liver shunt?` Liver shunts are rare in cats; and our vet had never diagnosed one. They are a congenital condition where blood bypasses, the liver, and toxins build up in the cat`s bloodstream, causing neurologic symptoms. Our vet`s hunch was right - and it saved Mousey`s life.

Mousey had surgery for the liver shunt at the end of January 2026, and is recovering well. This tough little warrior has survived so much - and she`s ready for the easy life in a loving forever home.
