My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Luke! Luke is a super sweet and smart Lab Shepard mix. He is 60 lbs and approx. 9 months old.
Luke is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Luke was found as a stray with his brother and sister, Duke and Lexi, also posted for adoption.

Luke is eager to please his human and very trainable. Luke is in a fantastic foster home and has learned all his basic commands; sit, paw, heel and stop. He will sit patiently in his place for his food and is working on new commands daily. Luke walks well on lead and loves to play fetch.

Luke is crate trained and goes to his crate well. He sleeps in it overnight and surprisingly likes to sleep in! He is housebroken too.

Luke has energy spurts and zoomies like all young dogs, but for the most part he is happy playing with a toy at your feet, or cuddles up for long naps in your lap or his favorite spot. He is pretty low key for a 9 month old dog.

Luke will chew on items left on the floor (a house is a new environment for him) but he is quickly learning what he can and can’t have. For now, though, he can’t be left free in the house unattended so he should be crated.

Luke would do well with another dog or a bustling family with kids or a couple that has time to play! He’s a pretty adaptable dog.

If you are interested in Luke, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Luke would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $200.00

We ask that you complete our adoption application, so we can lean a little bit about you to ensure we can help find your perfect match.

Please do not ask us to ship our dogs out of state. WE DO NOT SHIP! We require adopters to fill out an adoption form and agree to the terms of our adoption contract. All pets are spay/neutered and vaccinated.

In addition to looking on the website, we show many of our rescued dogs at regular adoption events. Check out our upcoming events for the next opportunity to meet some of our dogs in person.

More about this rescue

Love-A-Stray is a small, non-profit, all-volunteer organization focused on helping abandoned, forgotten and neglected dogs. Without a physical shelter, our rescue dogs are housed in loving foster homes; minimizing operating costs and allowing adoption fees, donations, and fundraising efforts to directly benefit the dogs in our care. Every dog we rescue is completely vetted including spay/neuter before they are adopted out to a new family. We strive to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment for each dog we rescue. We rely on our loyal supporters to help us raise funds to help us continue our good work.
