Heeeerre’s Gracie! I’m a very social adult tabby female who loves attention! I am one of six cats who were rescued from a home with 21 cats. A kind person took all of us and kept us in her basement until she could find rescue groups or homes that would take us in. Six of us have come to Paws and Claws, and the others have all found other places to go. I am a go-getter who loves catnip toys, wand toys, and tunnels. I seek attention from people, and I like being around other cats and was around large and small dogs. I am very protective of other cats and try to attack when I hear other cats meowing. If one attacks another, I and some of the other cats in my group will step in. If the woman who rescued us had to put one cat in a carrier and it meowed, I would jump on the woman’s leg. I am quite food motivated. I was fed Special Kitty, Purina Cat Chow, wet food, and squeeze treats. Would it surprise you to know that I get the zoomies? No? It might surprise you, though, to know that I like to burrow under blankets. Maybe not. I may have even more wonderful surprises that even I don’t know about yet. I am amazing Gracie. I would absolutely love to be in a household with other cats, maybe with one or more from my previous home. See you soon.

We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.
After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.
We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.
Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds.We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
