“Consider yourself at home. Consider yourself one of the family…” (Sung by the Artful Dodger in “Oliver”). I’d love to be part of a family, hopefully along with my friend Cleo – Cleocatra. We came to Paws and Claws with four other cats. There were 21 of us in our home originally, and a woman brought us to her home because there were too many of us crowded into our residence. She cared for us while searching for homes and rescue places that could take us in. What a wonderful lady! She found places for us all, and now we need permanent homes. I am a handsome medium-haired boy who is shy in new places. Once I warm up, however, I become a “Velcro cat,” seeking out people and other cats alike. My friend Cleocatra and I are BFFs, and we would love to be adopted together, please. We play together and hang out together. I do try to be friends with all cats, and I do well with dogs, too. I can be quite vocal, and I am picky about food and treats. I have some quirks: I put food in the water bowl. I lie down in the litter box as if it’s a bed. If I get overstimulated, I may nip, but not in an aggressive way, just a reminder, while being petted, so maybe best in a home with older children only. I’m a lovable fellow, and I know you’ll be hooked on Oliver!

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.
After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

More about this rescue
Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.
We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.
Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
