My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Sylvester! When I’m in my kennel, they call me Mr. Grumpy-pants. I promise I’m a nice cat! I’m just so scared in the shelter that I want to protect my space; I scare people off by jumping forward and hissing at them. I forget that I can trust humans.

The truth is I AM looking to connect with someone—I just need to take the long way round. The key to my heart is a lickable treat—show me a churu and you’ll have my attention! I require calm energy, a soothing voice, and appreciate slow blinks offered. When we go at my pace you’ll see who I am on the inside: a sensitive soul who’s seen the rough side of the world and needs trust restored.

You’ll then start to see my endearing traits: I lean into scritches behind the ear, sit on your lap and soak up petting and brushing, will gently and enthusiastically lick churu right from the tube or your fingers (I’ll even gently grab your hand to pull it and hold it close while licking. I'll rub against you and climb onto you for attention. It will take time and I may tremble at first when you hold me.

For someone willing to be patient, go at my pace, and is fluent in cat, I will blossom into a most loyal feline companion. I may even benefit from living with another chill cat who might help me trust my new people even faster.
