Hi… um… hello! I’m Truffle! I’m a puppy, which means I have a big heart, bouncy legs, and a whole world I’m still trying to figure out. People? LOVE them. I’ll wiggle right up to say hi, jump up for affection, and soak up every pet you’re willing to give. I’m sweet, social, and very eager to be close to my humans. The outside world is still pretty scary for me. I didn’t get to see much of it before, so new places and big changes can make me freeze up or feel unsure. I’m learning, though—and every day I get a little braver. I’ll need someone patient and kind who’s willing to go slow, cheer me on, and help me learn that new things can be good things. Treats help. A LOT. Honestly, snacks might be my favorite thing ever. I’m playful, curious, and full of puppy energy once I feel safe. I enjoy toys, attention, and being involved in whatever you’re doing. I eat like it’s a race (no shame), so I’ll do best with a human who’s ready to help me slow down and keep me feeling secure. I’m learning how to share my prized treasures too—fair trades make everything better, and I really try when you show me the way. I’ve had a bit of a rough start, but I’m doing my best and settling in more each day. Everything is new, everything is big, and everything is exciting… and sometimes scary. But underneath it all, I’m just a loving, wiggly puppy looking for someone who will help me grow into the confident, happy dog I’m meant to be. If you’ve got patience, snacks, and a soft spot for underdogs, I think we could be something really special.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
