This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Willow Valentine, a 10-week-old Boxer/Weimaraner mix. This gorgeous girl is also Greyhound, Terrier, Lab, Basenji and a million other things! Who needs a pack of Sweethearts when you got the sweetest girl at home! She's the Perfect American Mutt who weighs 9 pounds (as of 2/2/26) and comes from our VALENTINE litter. Willow and her siblings were given away at a Walmart parking lot in Tennessee just before Christmas and she hopes that Cupid will be on her side to connect her with her fur-ever Valentine! Come on, look at that adorable face!

Soon, your friends will become jealous because you're spending so much time with Willow instead of them and you know what? Good for you! Willow is all the friend you need this Valentine's Day! Since Willow is still a teensie baby, all she asks is for patience from her fur-ever home as she adjusts to potty training, leashing and commands (though she's great with crates). In exchange for your help, Willow surprise you with a singing telegram to show you her love! This girl's a keeper!
For medical history, Willow used to have ringworm, but we're happy to report that she is cured, healthy and ready for a home! Don't be bummed this Valentine's Day. Having Willow is all the Valentines you'll need!

The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. We are lucky enough to have loving families who open their hearts and homes to our dogs until they are placed, but we need more foster homes so we can save more dogs. Great Dog Rescue New England (GDRNE) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit, shelterless, all-breed rescue group headquartered in Massachusetts. Our group is comprised of volunteers all over New England who love dogs and want to help those that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Loyal and loving dogs turn up every day in New England and Southern shelters, as owners turn them in or they’re found roaming the streets after being dumped. To the best of our abilities, we evaluate all of our Great Dogs’ temperament and suitability for living with other dogs, cats, and children. A dog’s health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and are spayed or neutered. Then, we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog as an individual and to assure proper placement in a loving forever home.
Since September 2003, we have placed more than 3000 homeless and abandoned dogs in loving forever homes in the New England area. Every month, dozens of our Southern Great Dogs ride the transport north to their new forever and foster homes. The transport, which is licensed by the USDA, drives up as often as needed and arrives at our isolation facility in Harvard, MA. Our forever families and foster homes pick up their new dogs after the dogs receive a vet check and are quarentined for at least 48 hours per state regulations.
Often times our Southern adoptions are long-distance and we facilitate these adoptions by the transfer of pictures and information about the dog, and we arrange to have the adopter speak to a dog’s foster parents. When a dog is in a New England foster home, we are more than happy to arrange a pre-adoption meeting!
