My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, Im Luckysometimes. Other times my luck seems to run out, but I like my name and Im hoping to get lucky again soon. My first family gave me my name because they felt lucky after buying their dream house and then finding a cute little gray tabby girl kitten (me) hiding under the deck! Unfortunately the three little kids in that house were just too loud and scary, so I spent a lot of time hiding from them. No fun for anybody! My second family included a cat that I just could not get along with, so once again Im at AWLMC, waiting for my third try.

Now that Im a year and a half old, Im still as cute as everand affectionate and playful and an all-round great cat! I love hanging out with adult humans. Ill rub against your legs, and when you sit down Ill be right there beside you. Sometimes Ill even climb onto your chest for maximum snuggling, and youre welcome to pick me up. You can entertain us both with ribbons or any kind of toy, or if were in the mood for an adventure, you can take me for a short walk on a leash. (So far my walks have just been in the back yard.) I need a home with no small children or other animals; if you focus all your attention on me, Ill do my best to keep you feeling loved and entertained.

My paws are crossed, and Im hoping my third home will be the charm. Do you feel lucky? Lets roll the dice and see if weve got a winning combination!

More about this shelter

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County, Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
