My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

May (A140957) is a 1-year-old AK Husky mix who weighed 41 pounds on intake but is underweight.

01/27/26 This cute young lady is May! May arrived at the shelter as a stray after she was found dodging cars. May was very frightened and difficult to catch, as she had been on the run for a few weeks after being spooked by NYE fireworks. It is important that her next owner is diligent about keeping her contained – on a leash, secure tie-out, or supervised in a fenced-in yard. May responds very well with treats and even has showed us that she knows her basic commands including shake! We do encourage her next owner to bring her to a basic obedience class to continue working on her manners and building her confidence. We do not know her experience level with children or other animals. It is very important that slow, safe, and controlled introductions are made to help her succeed! May can be a little over enthusiastic when taking her treats, so making sure you are giving them with flat hands or tossing them to her is important. If you are interested in meeting May, please let us know!
