My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mylton is being fostered in Shabonna IL

Introducing Mylton.  This beautiful black tri male is a 36lb. 2-3yo Australian Shepherd...somewhere between a standard and a mini.  Mylton came to rescue from a hoarding situation and is shy and timid, but sweet.  He is ready for his next step in life and that is to find a home with a fenced yard, another confident resident dog and a human that will be gentle and patient with him.

He is potty trained, crate trained and does well in the house with good house manners. His crate is his safe space.  He is on a potty schedule and needs to go out about every 3 hours. So someone home more than not would be best for this boy.  When he first came in, he wouldn't even look at his foster parents, but with time and love and patience, he has found his rhythm. He takes his cues from the other dogs in the foster home.  He also is good with the cats.  Mylton has been with us since August of 2025.  We are just posting him now, because we feel like he is ready for his next step in life. Would you be willing to be his human that shows him love and gentle kindness?

Mylton is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
