Nutmeg is a 6-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever with the perfect blend of playful energy and cozy companionship. This beautiful, sweet girl absolutely lives for fetch—she’ll happily zoom around the yard, especially if there’s a squeaky toy involved! When it’s time to slow things down, Nutmeg enjoys leisurely, sniffy walks where she can take in all the good smells.
She’s a big fan of tasty rewards (salmon and chicken flavors are her favorites!) and loves car rides—she’ll hop right in, ready for the next adventure. At home, Nutmeg is all about being close to her people. She’ll lay right next to you, soaking up pets and scratches for as long as you’re willing to give them. Her favorite way to ask for attention? All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Current programming such as our Adoption Program, Military Veterans’ Program, and Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program create positive, impactful connections between people and animals, improving the lives of both. On the horizon are additional programs to keep pets in homes, such as a pet food pantry, affordable pet training options, and temporary housing for pets when families are in crisis.
