Meet Chuck Norris, a sweet two-year-old orange kitty with a scar that tell a story. When he came to us, his left eye was ruptured, perhaps because of a cat fight. Unfortunately, the damage to his eye was too much, and we had to surgically remove the eye. He is a tough cookie though, and has recovered quickly, all the while being the friendliest kitty you'll ever meet. Even though he only has one eye now, he still sees and moves around like any other cat.
Chuck Norris is a big fan of whoever invented comfy cat beds. He's always looking for the softest and coziest spot in the room to relax. And when you pamper him with pets while he relaxes, he'll start purring as if he was in cat heaven. A chill but loving cat, Chuck Norris is perfect for those needing some gentle affection in their life. He is also neutered and up to date on his core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
