Max is a white and cream Shih Tzu with a big personality packed into a small, fluffy body. He’s a young, spunky puppy who wakes up every day ready to play, explore, and make his people smile.
One of Max’s standout talents? Fetch. And not just casual fetch — this guy is a championship-level retriever. Toss the toy and watch him light up as he proudly brings it right back, over and over again. He also does wonderfully off leash, showing impressive focus and responsiveness for such a young dog.
Max is affectionate, playful, and eager to please, but like many puppies, he’s still learning how to navigate the world. He does best with gentle guidance and calm corrections. He’s a sensitive soul who responds beautifully when approached with patience, clarity, and kindness — think coaching, not scolding.

Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else.
We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.

We are 100% volunteer powered. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.

Our adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies, HW check, and microchip.
Russell Rescue dogs are fostered in the Middle Tennessee area. We do not ship/transport our dogs, so the approved adopter must be willing to travel to Tennessee. Russell Rescue will try to first place our rescue dogs locally or in surrounding states.
Russell Rescue is not open to the public for visiting hours. We do not have a physical location of our own.
