My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dirty Dan is not actually dirty.
He is aesthetic.
There is a difference.

Meet Dirty Dan — a large, loaf-shaped gentleman with the build of a retired linebacker and the soul of a sleepy Victorian child. Dan earned his name because he occasionally looks like he just finished rebuilding a motorcycle engine… even when he has done nothing except nap aggressively for 6 hours.

Dan is a big boy. Not “oh he’s fluffy” big.
We’re talking you will use two hands and reconsider your life choices big.

His hobbies include:
• Sitting on important papers
• Staring at walls like he’s watching ghost television
• Rolling over for belly rubs and then immediately regretting it
• Judging you for eating snacks without sharing

Dirty Dan has the face of a wise old wizard who knows where you left your keys but refuses to tell you. He is equal parts cuddle monster and grumpy potato. He may look slightly scruffy at times, but that’s just his signature style — ruggedly handsome, like a trucker who writes poetry.

Personality traits:
• 40% marshmallow
• 40% grumble
• 20% mysterious dust particle collector

He enjoys soft beds, sunny windows, and being told he is “a very large handsome baby,” which he absolutely is. Dan would thrive in a home that appreciates a cat with presence — the kind of cat who enters a room and immediately owns the couch.

If you’re looking for a tiny dainty kitty… keep scrolling.
If you’re looking for a unit of a cat who will love you, supervise your daily activities, and possibly double as a weighted blanket, Dirty Dan is your guy.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter

Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
