My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Irene! This little beauty, estimated to be about 4 years and weighing about 18 pounds, has a nose for snacks and a heart of gold! Irene was found all alone in a city park, which would be scary for any dog, but especially for one who can’t see. That’s right, Irene is mostly blind, but don’t go feeling sorry for her just yet. She may not have all of her sight, but she’s got everything else going for her: charm, smarts, and a whole lot of love to give.

Once she got to the rescue, Irene wasted no time settling in. She’s figured out how to map her surroundings with impressive accuracy, and she’ll confidently move her way to the comfiest bed in the room... or your lap, if it’s available. She’s mellow, gentle, and has a soft spot for slow mornings and sun naps. Hustle and bustle? Not really her thing. Think cozy home, quiet vibes, and someone who wants a loyal little sidekick around most of the time.

Irene gets along with other dogs who match her chill energy, and she absolutely lights up for gentle pets, calm voices, and treats she can sniff out from a mile away. She’s low maintenance in the sweetest way, and she’s made it clear she’s ready to trade her past for a peaceful life filled with warmth, consistency, and cuddles.

She may not see the world with 20/20 vision, but she’ll see you in her own special way. If you’re looking for a lil companion with a brave spirit and a lot of love to give, Irene might just be your girl! Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
