My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"I’m basically the equivalent of warm cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven — except I’m a dog, and instead of icing I come fully frosted with joy." Hello, Montgomery Clift here, and yes, I’m aware that my name sounds like I should be wearing a turtleneck and brooding dramatically near a window. Unfortunately for those hoping for that aesthetic, I am happy, like very happy. Like you just booked your beach vacation, or you just told your kid that you guys are going to Disneyland. Yep, that kind of happy!

I’m a 4–5 month old, 32-lb Border Collie mix, and despite my very serious, old-Hollywood name, I am powered almost entirely by happiness and vibes. I came into rescue after being abandoned with my siblings. We were left to figure things out on our own, living outside, and thankfully a very kind human made sure we were fed and safe — even though they couldn’t keep us forever. Just in time (like, dramatically just in time), we were scooped up before the Arctic weather rolled in with its rude amounts of cold and snow. Now? I am living my best indoor life. I am super sweet, constantly excited, and approach every single day like it personally invited me to a party. I’m playful, affectionate, and always happy to see you — whether you’ve been gone five minutes or five hours. I don’t really do “bad days.” I do tail wags, happy hops, and the firm belief that everything is going to be okay.

Other dogs? Huge fan. Five stars. Would recommend. I am friendly, playful, and very confident in my ability to make every dog my friend. Size does not intimidate me. Age does not discourage me. If you have a dog, I will assume they are here to play with me and that this was all pre-approved. I haven’t officially met a cat yet, but based on my track record with literally everyone else, I feel it’s only fair to warn you: I am extremely enthusiastic about meeting new beings. I love attention. I love playing. I love saying hello like it’s the most important event of the day. So if a cat exists, I will probably assume it is a friend-shaped mystery who desperately needs to be greeted… immediately… with joy. With proper introductions, guidance, and someone reminding me that not everyone shares my excitement level, I could absolutely learn that my level of enthusiasm might not be their idea of a fun time. Kids? My résumé is currently kid-free. That said, I am young, adaptable, and deeply motivated by attention — so the odds are in my favor. I’m a busy boy with a lot of enthusiasm and a strong appreciation for people who want to play, pet me, and tell me I’m handsome (which I am).
With proper introductions and some guidance to make sure my excitement doesn’t turn into accidental chaos, I think I’d do just fine. Especially if those kids enjoy an upbeat, playful dog who is always ready to be involved in whatever is happening. Calmer or more active lifestyle? Why choose just one lifestyle when you can have both? I absolutely love adventures — outside is exciting, the world is fascinating, and I’m very interested in seeing all of it. That said, I am also a big fan of being inside where the couches live and the people are. So yes — take me on hikes, walks, outings, and fun excursions. And then let’s come back inside so I can sprawl out dramatically and recharge like the clever, cozy genius I am. Temperament wise, I would describe myself as enthusiastically optimistic, with occasional moments of “okay wait… let me think about that for half a second.” I’m excited about life, but I’m still learning, so sometimes I pause, assess, and then proceed with confidence once I realize it’s not, in fact, a threat. I love people, toys, and other dogs — basically anything that might result in fun or affection. Water? Jury’s out. I tolerated my bath like a gentleman and did not file a formal complaint. Snow, however, was very fun… briefly. I enjoyed it, played in it, and then decided I was finished. When that happened, I learned to climb onto a table to avoid further snow participation and was always the first one back inside like, “Thank you, winter, that’s enough.” Toys are excellent and I support their continued existence in my future home. Living arrangements? I’m flexible. Yard? Love it. Apartment? Cool, as long as we go on walks and I get to burn off my happy energy. No fence? Fine — leash walks and activity will do just nicely. Basically, give me daily outlets, some structure, and a reason to feel included, and I’ll thrive wherever we land.

Potty trained? Emotionally, yes. Logistically, still learning. When the routine is solid, I do really well — my little puppy brain just needs consistency while it finishes downloading the rest of the software. Yes. I bark. But only for important announcements. Like when you come home — obviously this requires a celebratory vocal notification. Mornings? Also important. I’ve survived the night (and being away from you) and need everyone to be aware of that success. Just a friendly reminder that I am a puppy, not a fully polished adult with a résumé and life skills. My future family will need to do the classic puppy things: puppy-proof the house (because curiosity is my love language), socialize me so I grow up confident and well-rounded, and invest in training so I can become the impressive, well-mannered dog everyone brags about.

So anyway — if you’re looking for a relentlessly happy, sweet, playful little guy who wakes up every day choosing joy and immediately wants to share it with you… hi. It’s me. I am ready. All you have to do is fill out the adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app (that lets the humans do their important human things and send it to my foster family so they can decide if you’re worthy of my vibes). Once approved, you’ll need to come pick me up in Oklahoma City, where I will be waiting and absolutely prepared to steal your entire heart.

Love,
Montgomery Clift
