My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Saar is a gentleman and a scholar. With four inch whiskers and a fluffy tuxedo coat, he is truly the handsomest boy in Brooklyn. Even with his currently shaved bottom half (it will grow back!). Saar loves pets of any kind and has been known to jump to your hand for a good headrub. He has started climbing into laps to get more scratches!

Saar is a bit timid at first and might hiss when you first come into the room or if he cannot see you from his hidey hole. However, the second you give him your hand to sniff he warms up quickly. He has never swatted and has only given little finger nibbles if he mistakes your hand for one of his toys or a treat, but they never hurt. All in all, Saar is a loving, regal gent that will blossom with the right cat-parent that treats him like the prince he is.

Saar was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. We would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation (between $250 and $400 total) and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
