Hi there! My name is Piper. I was found dumped off of a county road with my four sisters. A nice lady was caring for me with the help of Lucies Project, but unforseen circumstances hindered her from being able to do so anymore. We were fixing to be in a for long, very cold week and did not know what to do. Lucies Project to the rescue again!! They were called out to come get us, and with the help of a kind, out of town vet and her helpers, we all were rescued and brought to Lucies. Whew!! Were we glad! Of course, we were scared at first, but quickly figured out these angels were taking good care of us. I don't know about you, but man is Puppy Chow better than scrounging around for bugs to eat or what?? We get our bellies full daily :) We have also been vetted as much as we possible can be at our age. And guess what else?? Because of the generosity of so many donors, they actually had coats and sweaters for us to wear during the freeze!! We get play in yards and kennels daily, but what we really want is our own family to play with and take care of us. I hope that family is yours!! We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoption

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
