My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Come meet me and 75+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's Super Adoption Event, Furever Yours! Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at Paradise Island in Staten Island from 11am - 3pm!

Meet Lionel!

Lionel is a 3 month old, 22lbs, athletic Catahoula Mix with a stunning tawny-brown coat and soulful eyes that will melt your heart the second you meet him.

His superpowers include being a total social butterfly—he is fantastic with children, adults, and every other dog he meets. He has an incredible internal "loyalty compass" and is naturally protective; he’ll make sure you always feel safe.

While he has plenty of puppy energy and is always up for an adventure, he is also a world-class snuggler who provides endless kisses and will happily spoon with you during naptime.

Some of his favorite things include:

Park Adventures: He absolutely lives for his walks in the park where he can explore and show off his athletic side.

Treat Time: He is highly food-motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty reward.

Cuddle Sessions: Despite his "guardian" instincts, he is a big softie who just wants to be close to his people.

If you are looking for a loyal, energetic, and deeply affectionate companion who is as handsome as he is brave, Lionel is your guy. He is the perfect blend of a playful adventurer and a devoted best friend.

Lionel is currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY. His adoption fee is $550.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
