Hi I'm Lucy Loo! (Please excuse my frowny photo taken in the shelter - new happy photos are coming soon!) When I was a kitten, I was adopted with my sister who I loved very much. But after two years, we were returned to the shelter on 1/22/26 which confused and scared us! Being in a cage in a strange noisy place made us very afraid. If that wasn't bad enough, a few days later my sister was taken away from me because she got adopted, leaving me alone in the scary cage at the shelter. I was upset and frightened about what was to become of me, and I became unconsolable - hissing, striking, hiding and untouchable. Volunteers worked hard to make me feel safe and slowly but surely I felt better, and even started playing and purring when pet. Unbeknownst to me, the shelter placed me on the "urgent list" meaning I might not ever make it out of the shelter - good thing I didn't know this! The shelter sent out a plea begging for a rescue to save me and Stray Cat Alliance said yes! Today 2/6/26 is my first day here and thanks to the cozy large space they set up for me, and the welcoming staff, I feel safe! I'm still a little confused, and really miss laying in sunny patches on the floor, windows to watch out of and a loving person to sleep in bed with. I hope after reading my story you will want to take me home to foster or even adopt! I would also love another sweet cat around my age to play and cuddle with, since I'm used to being with my sister. So that's my sad story, but I have faith a happy ending in a loving home is in my future because I'm a cute and sweet girl!

Due to COVID-19, we are not currently holding in-person adoption events. Most of our cats are in foster homes and we are doing virtual meet-and-greets with them.
We also have adoptable cats at our two partner cat cafes – CatCafe Lounge (https://www.catcafelounge.com/) in West Los Angeles and Cat Therapy (https://www.cattherapysb.com/) in Santa Barbara. You can make a reservation on their websites, or we can arrange a meeting by appointment once you have filled-out our application and spoken to our team.

-Find loving forever homes for cats and kittens taken in through all of our programs.
-Help shelters transform from executioners to safe havens for cats by implementing SCA’s life-saving policies and procedures.
-Educate the community about the plight of free‐roaming cats and empower people to take action to stop population growth through spay and neuter.
-Create and sustain a No-Kill Nation by mentoring other communities to become no-kill through our grassroots programs.
Stray Cat Alliance envisions a time when all cats are valued and safe whether in homes or communities, and when shelters serve as temporary safe havens.
