My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Spotty! This gorgeous and easygoing fluffball absolutely loves her people! She will seek you out and rub against you, purring loudly. If you let her, she’ll curl up and sleep on you, no matter where you are or what position you’re in.

As a longhaired kitty, Spotty needs some grooming – not to worry! She loves to be brushed. In fact, she would be happy to groom you while you brush her. :-) Her favorite toys are crinkly toys and fishing pole toys as well as anything with catnip.

This cuddler loves people of all ages (including kids as young as 5) and is comfortable around other cats. She also has experience with a dog – she is very tolerant but would prefer a home with no dogs or with a dog who tends to ignore kitties.

Though she is currently an indoor/outdoor cat, Spotty loves to be inside; her family believes that she would be happy as an indoor-only cat.

Spotty’s only “issue” is what appears to be chronic rhinitis. She frequently has a runny nose and sneezes. Her current family will ask their vet to summarize her rhinitis and their suggestions for diagnostics and treatment. To date, antibiotics appear to help short term but do not resolve the issue permanently. Spotty appears to be happy and content. However, her adopters will need to be prepared to delve into this apparent rhinitis if they wish to address the sneezing.

Spotty is 8 years old and weighs about 11 lbs. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. The chronic rhinitis is her only known health issue. She has perfect litter box habits.

This sweetie is looking for a new home because she needs more grooming and medical care than her current family is able to provide. We (FFOCAS) are helping Spotty’s family safely rehome her.

Interested? Please reach out via email (ffocas4pets@gmail.com) or through Adoptapet. We’ll ask you to fill out a rehoming application to keep this process as safe as possible for all involved -- especially Spotty!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The pets listed here are available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. The adoption process is similar to what you'd experience with a typical rescue organization. Feel free to reach out to ask for more details. On a separate page, we list the cats available through our special needs cat rescue program.

More about this rescue

Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter (FFOCAS) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit "friends" group helping our local county-run animal shelter. On this page, we list the pets available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. Reducing intake at our partner shelter saves lives in two ways: (1) by ensuring that pets rehomed through Project Hope never enter the shelter and (2) by leaving more time and resources available at the shelter for those pets who do go to the shelter. In addition to Project Hope, we have our Cats with Character program, through which we take in primarily special needs kitties who are not doing well at our partner shelter, and Brooke's Medical Fund, through which we cover veterinary costs for shelter pets. Check out our website for more information!
