My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ripley’s life hasn’t always been easy, but he’s ready to leave the past behind and step into a future full of love. This sweet boy was left at a local shelter, abandoned and understandably nervous about everything around him. When he came to our rescue he was thin, head-shy, and covered in fleas...a clear sign he had likely spent a lot of time outdoors. But don’t worry he’s come a long way since then and his resilient, loving personality is shining through!

Ripley is a “pirate-pup” because he sports a permanent wink thanks to an atrophied left eye, which either didn’t develop fully or may have been the result of an old injury. Either way, it doesn’t slow him down one bit! He navigates the world just fine and honestly it only adds to his charm.

This 4-year-old, 22 pound sweetheart is smart, playful, and highly food-motivated, which makes training (with treats!!) extra fun. He loves going on walks, exploring new sights and smells, and, most of all, spending time with his people. He’s still a little cautious with new faces, but with patience, gentle encouragement, and a few tasty treats, he warms up quickly and will become your devoted sidekick.

Ripley does well with mellow dogs and would thrive in a calm, semi-active home where he can enjoy quiet moments as much as playtime adventures. He’s not a fan of chaos, but he absolutely adores human companionship, belly rubs, and just being near the people he trusts. He's smart, silly, and full of heart - a little pirate with a wink for everyone he meets! He’s ready to embrace a forever home where he’ll never have to worry about being abandoned again. Could that home be with you? Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
