Carol I transferred to the HSHC on February 6 from a crowded shelter. Wow! This place is pretty swanky. I have a 2-room apartment all to myself with a comfy bed and regular meals. I was visited by the interviewer lady (IL) today, and we had a very pleasant time. She told me I have a lovely, silky soft, short, golden-brown Tabby coat. I came out of my Kasa as soon as she opened my door and quickly pushed my head into her hand. I rubbed against her arms and tucked myself into her shoulder. I couldn’t help but begin purring and moving all around to give her access to my back and chin. When I first arrived, I had some tummy trouble, but I’m much better now. The medical staff did tell me that I am FIV+. FIV is a virus infection found only in cats. This condition can lower a cat’s immune system. There is no treatment, but I can live a long, happy life, even with FIV- cats, if I have regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle. I am only 4-years-old, spayed, and litterbox educated. I intend on living a wonderful life for many, many years if I can find a new owner. Because I am a friendly, affectionate girl, I have no doubts that someone will read my interview and decide I am the perfect cat for them. The IL assured me that I’m at the right place at the right time. Spring is just around the corner, and adopting a furry friend is a fantastic way to celebrate. 2-18-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
