If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
This is Kensington, a six-year-old black American shorthair who has been with my wife and me since he was eight weeks old. He was my very first pet and has grown alongside us from the start of our relationship in 2019, through our move from New Jersey in 2020, to marriage, and now welcoming our three-month-old daughter.
Kensington can be prickly at first, but he warms up to people quickly and forms strong bonds. He takes time adjusting to other pets, but has always come around, even with our two other cats and two-year-old dog. He is healthy, has never been sick or hospitalized, and has been a calm, steady presence in our home.
This is an incredibly hard decision for us. Our family has grown larger than we can manage while giving Kensington the attention and peaceful environment he deserves. We love him deeply and are hoping to find him a home where he can thrive and be someone's constant again.
