My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well Hey There! My name is Beau, sometimes my friends at the shelter call me Beau Beau Beans - because my name is so nice they like to say it twice.

A little bit about me - I am a little over one year old, I’m a large mixed breed dog weighing in at about 60lbs. I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and I’m up to date on my vaccines and heartworm testing!

I came in as a stray, and when my owners were contacted - they decided it would be best for me to find a new home, because they couldn’t care for me anymore. While I was super sad at first, I look at this as an opportunity to make new friends, and I can’t wait to find my furever family!

I am an active boy, and I will need someone to help me learn my manners, I’m not sure how I’d do living with another dog, so I’d have to meet them first to see if we are a good fit. I know that I can’t live with cats because well, I like to chase them and I’ve been told they don’t like it. Oops!

I’d love to meet you, and if you’d like to meet me, stop by the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, please reach out to my friends at AVASCares2@gmail.com or you can call 989-348-4117. I hope we get to meet soon!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

At AuSable Valley Animal Shelter we pride ourselves on making adoption accessible for all those looking to have a pet for companionship. Most of these pets have had an unknown past so we work hard to make sure their futures are safe, secure, and happy. It is always our priority in a new home, that they will be properly cared for and receive the proper veterinary care and home environment they need to live a long and happy life.

More about this shelter

Ausable Valley is a private non-profit No Kill animal shelter. We have a very active core of volunteers and have a play and exercise based enrichment program for all of our animals. AVAS staff work very hard to match pets to people.
