Olive originally lived with her mom and siblings in a home, in Portugal, but when her person moved into an apartment, he left all of the dogs at a shelter. At 8 years old and being black, she had no future in there, so arrangements were made to get her to Canada, along with her sister Mabel, where we knew a home could be found. She has quickly made herself comfortable in her rural foster home with her sister and two foster siblings. What we know about Olive thus far is that she is the perfect size, at 30 lbs, great with other dogs, cats as well and good in the car. She is very gentle, sweet and so easy to love. Initially shy, but with so many changes this last week, it is to be expected. Although they did not show the typical signs of a bonded pair, when we did a trial separation, Olive didn't do well, so we are now looking for a home where both dogs would be welcome. They are similar in size and while Olive is shy and reserved, Mabel is the Walmart greeter, eager to meet and play with every dog, as well as meeting every person who crosses her path. In fact they compliment each other.
They are easy quiet dogs and if you are looking for good companionship, this is the pair to consider.
UPDATE: As typical in rescue dogs, at the three week mark, their personalities have emerged and Olive and Mabel are embracing the snow, much more playful and such a great pair. Their preference is a home with a yard, and people home more than not. They would be a great addition for a moderately active senior or anyone wanting great canine companionship.
This pair is currently being fostered in Erin, Ontario.
