Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Come meet me and hundreds of adoptable pets at Cincinnati's mega adoption event, My Furry Valentine! Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd at Spooky Nook Sports!
Meet Zane!
At 1.5 years old and about 55 pounds (though he looks even bigger in person!), Zane is the perfect match for anyone looking for a big, lovable, goofy best friend with an even bigger personality.
Zane came to us from a high-intake shelter in West Virginia where space is limited. The staff works incredibly hard to care for every dog, and while some dogs spend time in outdoor kennels with dog houses and heaters, Zane was ready for a chance to stretch out and settle into a home — and from the first 30 minutes in foster care, he acted like he’d lived there forever.
He is incredibly friendly and affectionate. Within minutes of arriving, he was rolling all over the bed, climbing into laps, wiggling around for belly rubs, and snuggling under the covers like a pro. He may be a big guy, but he absolutely believes he’s a lap dog. His tail basically never stops wagging!
Zane is great with other dogs of all sizes and has the funniest, go-with-the-flow play style. He recently met a tiny, feisty Jack Russell who had a lot to say about his big, happy energy. While she grumbled and snapped, Zane basically gave her a “girl, whatever” and gently plopped his giant paw on her head before trying to keep the party going. He’s silly, unbothered, and just wants everyone to be friends.
He’s a smart boy and is already showing good instincts with his potty habits. With a little routine and consistency, he’ll catch on quickly.
Zane tested positive for Lyme disease, which is a non-contagious, tick-borne illness. He is currently being treated with antibiotics. If Zane finds his forever home before completing his medication, the remaining medication will be sent along with him. Many dogs who test positive for Lyme go on to live happy, normal lives with no long-term effects.
If you’re looking for a big, affectionate, happy-go-lucky companion who will keep you laughing, steal your blankets, and happily curl up beside you at the end of the day, Zane is ready to be your guy.
Zane is currently in foster care in Cincinnati, Ohio. His adoption fee is $250.00.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
